There is a first time for everything and now gardeners will be able to purchase bees either by mail order or from garden centres. Dragonfli and Wildlife World will be marketing live bumblebee hives for gardeners and garden centres.
Gardeners can purchase a wooden hive known as the Beepol Bumblebee Lodge and a supply a live colony of native UK bumblebees. Dragonfli managing director Julian Ives said: "This is a first for garden centres. Any gardener growing fruit and some vegetables can expect much improved fruit set. The bees will also provide a fascinating new area of interest in the garden and will be educational for children as they can watch and learn from a real working bumblebee colony".
