Plant guarantees may change to to severe winters

In the UK we have experienced two very severe winters with many gardeners experiencing at least one loss of a plant and some many from newly planted to established plants. Nursery growers suffered significant losses of stock and with tight margins it has been very hard for them. Now garden centres are wondering if they should rewrite the rule book on what plants they are able to offer a one year guarantee. Failures of normally hardy plants such as Camellias, Cordylines and Ceanothus have been particulary notable. With extremes of all kinds of weather, hot and cold, wet and dry, plants are facing a tough time as well as the grower.
