RHS to review judging system

The closed world of judging by Royal Horticultural Society is up for review and not before time some would say. To all those designers that have toiled away at the recent Chelsea Flower Show may well wonder why they got the medal they did, not matter what colour. As feedback is all but non-existent and the judging of the gardens is by a show of hands. The obvious way to go is to award points for various elements, such as ‘has it met the brief’, ‘is the design as shown upon the application ‘the selection of plants’ the standard of the plants’ etc. then it is obvious where to improve, if need be. Publishing the votes would be even better, but maybe that is a step too far at present. Let’s see what happens and hope that it is approved by garden designers that work so hard at the various shows put on by the RHS.
