It was even believed that nymphs inhabited streams and grottos and the water sources were decorated, hence the sculptured creatures such as Gods and Lions we see adoring water features from the classic Italian gardens to modern day. This tradition continues and the sight and sound of water in a garden adds much pleasure for the visitor.
